For the month of October, 58 participants accepted the challenge and entered into our fall weight loss challenge. Our members chose a weight loss goal for the month, were given a meal plan to use each day and were held accountable with weekly weigh-ins and by having their plus/minus weight posted on a board visible for everyone to see.
The meal plan was simple- no dairy, no wheat and absolutely no sugar (including fruit). Our members were to eat everything on the list in a day, skipping nothing, which was challenging for most of them. For some this was a lot of food, and for others it did not seem like enough. With some small adjustments, timing and planning, most were able find their groove. The challenge taught our members about time management (planning and preparation) to overcome the adversities of temptation and not to fall into the traps of peer pressure.
With their efforts and the help of the team at IF Port Moody, we had some huge victories! The female winner lost over 6.5% of her starting body weight and the male winner lost over 5% of his starting body weight! We also had a whopping total weight loss of the entire group of 213lbs!
This challenge was so successful we have continued onto a PHASE 2 plan for the month of November which starts to implement specific types of foods (fruits, etc) back into the diet while still focusing on weight loss or weight management.
